  • What is anxiety disorder?

    Anxiety disorder is excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive expectation), occurring more days than not for at least 6 months, about future events or activities (such as work or school performance).

  • What not to do when anxiety sets in?

    Do not waste any time trying to cope on your own. Do not coop yourself up and allow your thoughts to continue ruminating. Do not allow your emotions to accumulate. Do not resort to drinking, smoking or self-harm. Do not take excessive medications to soothe your emotions. Do not give up on yourself.

  • What exactly is integrative therapy for anxiety?

    Integrative therapy means we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and use mainly talk therapy. Instead, we combine a variety of proven psychotherapy techniques like EMDR and Schema Therapy to create a personalized treatment plan for you. This allows us to address your anxiety on all levels—your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and underlying life patterns—for a more comprehensive and lasting recovery.

  • How is this different from standard talk therapy?

    While traditional talk therapy is valuable, it often focuses primarily on gaining insight through conversation. Our integrative approach includes experiential and physiological-based techniques.     Schema Therapy helps identify and heal the deep, self-defeating life patterns (or "schemas") that cause chronic anxiety. These are patterns like feeling unsafe, being overly critical of yourself, always feeling not good enough or fearing abandonment that developed in childhood.   • How long does it typically take to see results?
